Fort Lauderdale: October 5 – 7, 2000

4th_2000The City of Ft. Lauderdale and the Broward County Commission hosted the fourth Florida Neighborhoods Conference – Celebrating Florida’s Great Neighborhoods: The Heart and Soul of Our Cities. The Ft. Lauderdale conference attracted approximately 1000 Florida neighborhood leaders, municipal employees and business/community partners. The conference workshop tracks included Leadership Development & Training; Funding & Resources; Neighborhood Improvement Strategies and Planning, Mobilization & Implementation. More than 50 workshops were presented. Broward County featured 20 neighborhood and business tours of its culturally rich and diverse cities. The state planning committee worked with Ft. Lauderdale’s Strong local organizing committee, which engaged dozens of local partners and sponsors. The 2000 conference began the new century with participants from nearly every county in the state and a renewed enthusiasm for neighborhood building.
