Fort Lauderdale: October 5 – 7, 2006

10th_2006The City of Fort Lauderdale and Broward County co-hosted the tenth annual Florida Neighborhoods Conference held at the Broward County Convention Center October 5-7, 2006. The conference theme was Florida’s Great Neighborhoods: Simply the Best!. Nine hundred thirty six people registered for the conference, with eight hundred fourteen actually attending this three-day event. Since the conference strives to keep registration fees at a nominal amount, individual, corporate and organizational sponsorships were critical to the success of this event. Sixty-two sponsors responded with either cash or in-kind donations. In addition, eighty exhibitors displayed in the convention center exhibition hall.

Twenty-eight regular and four professional track workshops were held during the conference. Our Keynote speaker, Delatorro McNeal, spoke on the 5 P’s of professional success. Over fifteen individual entertainment venues were presented during the conference; many entertainers being part of the City of Fort Lauderdale employee family. Eight community tours were conducted. For the second time in the history of the conference, Fort Lauderdale and Broward county were honored to demonstrate why our area is such a culturally dynamic and unique place to live and work.
