Lakeland: October 20 – 22, 2005

9th_2005The City of Lakeland in partnership with Polk County hosted the 9th Annual Florida Neighborhoods Conference on October 20-22, 2005. Our theme was “Neighborhoods…Where We Live, Work and Play”. The Kick Off Reception, hosted by Polk County Board of County Community Board of County Commissioners at Fantasy of Flights on Thursday night, welcomed conference goers to the aviation-theme attraction.

On Friday, attendees participated in a myriad of workshops and tours offering empowerment and education. More than 200 volunteers greeted residents as they arrived at the Lakeland Center and checked into their hotels making their visit to Lakeland a most memorable one. Following the Keynote Luncheon sponsored by Bright House Networks, attendees were bedazzled at the Sizzling Soul Fest; a musical concert by one of the greatest vocalist and Hammond B3 players of today. The Passing of the Torch Breakfast sponsored by Publix provided residents additional opportunities to network with approximately 800 conference attendees. After the closing luncheon, residents were offered discounted tickets to Cypress Gardens offered discounted tickets.
