Orange County: July 10-12, 2014

Orange County, Florida hosted the 18th Annual Florida Neighborhoods Conference on July 10 -12, 2014, at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando. More than 250 neighborhood leaders and volunteers throughout the State of Florida as well as the State of Virginia participated. The conference consisted of 28 different workshops designed to inform and enhance the skills of neighborhood leaders and volunteers in areas such as managing their neighborhood organizations, recruiting members, using social media, connecting with government and community based organizations and fund raising. There were five neighborhood/community tours covering topics on youth, crime prevention and revitalization, fighting blight through partnerships, techniques for residents to use to demonstrate their love for their city to community gardens.

In addition to Orange County Government, the major sponsors were: Bright House Networks, TECO Gas, Truly Nolen, and Universal City Walk. The 17th Annual Florida Neighborhoods Conference gave the participants a taste of living, working and playing in Orange County and what makes it a great place to live and visit. The 18th Annual Florida Neighborhoods Conference ended on a celebratory high as Orange County honored seven citizens as community champions for their invaluable contributions to local neighborhoods. Each individual was recognized for their work in assisting their neighborhoods flourish.
