Pensacola: July 12-14, 2012

16th_2012Hosting the 2012 Florida Neighborhoods Conference (FNC) was another first for the City of Pensacola . In 1559, Pensacola became America’s First Settlement! The year 2012 marked the first time ewer the Florida Neighborhoods Conference was held in this Emerald Coast/Panhandle city. There were nearly 140 participants, volunteers and exhibitors in attendance. The theme of the 2012 Conference was “Play between the Beach and the Bay.” Indeed there was much to enjoy between Pensacola Beach and Escambia Bay.

Some of the highlights for 2012 included: special welcome reception on Pensacola Beach during Blue angels week, Neighborhood Pride Tours through some of the Pensacola Historic District sites of America’s First Settlement City, a social activity at Seville Quarter’s unique entertainment complex and the “Live, Work and Play” opportunities of vibrant Downtown.

Area businesses were on hand as exhibitors. One of the most exciting features of FNC 2012 was the special keynote address and interactive follow- up workshops presented by Keynote Speaker Peter Kageyama, internationally recognized expert on Community Development and author of the book – For the Love of Cities. Mayor Ashton Hayward, City of Pensacola, and the Escambia County government were proud to host the 2012 FNC and hope this “first” won’t be the last.
