Sarasota: September 11-13, 2003

7th_2003The 7th Annual Florida Neighborhoods Conference was hosted by the City of Sarasota with 825 neighborhood leaders and volunteers, community-based organizations and government representatives throughout Florida attending. There were four general workshop tracts offering 33 workshops presented by experts in volunteer management, neighborhood websites, code enforcement, traffic calming, sustaining neighborhood membership and a number of other pertinent topics. Participants were able to select from 26 neighborhood and community tours showcasing Sarasota’s neighborhoods, its historic districts and other community and economic development initiatives. The conference wrapped up Saturday with a Plenary Session featuring Florida Secretary of State Glenda E. Hood and Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell, a motivational speaker based in Houston Texas.
