St. Petersburg: October 1 – 2, 1999

3rd_1999Hosted by the City of St. Petersburg, the third Florida Neighborhoods Conference brought together more than 800 neighborhood leaders, volunteers, municipal employees and business/community partners from across Florida to share ideas about improving their communities. Thirty-one conference workshops were conducted at the University of South Florida’s scenic bayside campus. The workshops followed three tracks: 1) Ensuring Public Safety; 2) Tools to Build Better Neighborhood Associations; 3) Neighborhood Improvements. On Saturday afternoon, conference attendees left the downtown area for one of the 14 tours of St. Petersburg’s neighborhoods. Led by local residents, the tours provided the opportunity to speak directly with local community leaders and witness neighborhood enhancements highlighted in the workshops.
